Gritty Gratitude

I love You, LORD, because You first loved me and because You are Love You have taught me what Love is.

But I do not love You out of gratitude alone, because my gratitude is gritted with guilt.

I love You because You are deserving of all Love, all loyalty, all beyond the limits of my giving.

You are Holiness beyond height, Wisdom beyond width, Dignity beyond depth, Compassion beyond comprehension, Divinity beyond dimension.

And so I do not love You in my frailty, but in Your Fulness, and all adoration, of which You are the Author, Jesus Christ, Perfection Personified.
